about

This was the title track to last year’s RPM Challenge. It’s only been 11 months but this is the third different version of this I’ve done already. I thought this would be the best of them but it probably is not. It’s faster and it’s in a different key (the other two are in E flat minor, this is in E minor). I guess it’s okay.

The slide guitar thing in the pause is new and of course it’s backward which is groovy. I also messed with the panning on the vocal harmonies. I always pan all of the vocals straight up the middle but today I thought, you know what? I’m going to take the two harmony parts and spread them out a little. It’s crazy, but after 10 months of Covid-19 lock down I’m feeling a little crazy.

All of the guitar parts are my Gibson ES-335 through both a Vox AC15 and a Fender Bassbreaker 15. The rhythm used a Klon KTR and the lead used the Klon and a Keeley D&M Drive.

lyrics

I don’t believe what I want to believe
I only believe in truth

Not with a bang but a wimper
That’s how the story goes
Nothing remains but a cinder
there’s nothing left to show

and now the end is upon us
there’s nothing left to do
there’s no way back from the chaos
and its all down to you
